Tailings can be wall material !Copper tailings for AAC production raw material!

I.Definition

Copper (Cu ) is a soft, malleable, and ductile metal with very high thermal and electrical conductivity. A freshly exposed surface of pure copper has a reddish-orange color. Copper is used as a conductor of heat and electricity, as a building material, and as a constituent of various metal alloys.


II.Distribution

The global reserves of copper mineral resources are about 700 million tons (metal tons), mainly in  Chile, Peru, Australia,Mexico, Indonesia and other countries.


III.Use and Development

Copper is mainly used in electric power, electronics, machinery manufacturing, construction industry, national defense industry and other fields. During the process of ore dressing, each output of 1 tons of copper ore will have a total of 400 tons of waste rock and tailings.


IV. Comprehensive utilization of copper tailings


Normally a small amount of copper tailings can be used as the filling material of the old mines, the majority of the remaining will be used for the filling of depressions or dam stacking storage. Piled copper tailings not only occupy a lot of land, but also cover the original vegetation, the ecosystem has also been destroyed. Because of its special physicochemical properties, heavy metals are particularly high, and plants are difficult to grow naturally on tailings. At the same time, due to the wind blowing, rainwater loss, the surrounding areas of the residents living environment will be polluted.


For comprehensive utilization, the wall materials industry has successfully applicated autoclaved aerated concrete block with copper tailings as siliceous raw material. The process ingredients are copper tailings, lime, sand, cement, gypsum and aluminum powder, such as  B06 grade autoclaved aerated concrete, the main raw material ratio (%) is as follows:

V.Project Application

In June 2012, Anhui Runqian Energy-saving building Materials Technology Co., Ltd (hereinafter referred to as "Chuzhou Runqian") and KEDA SUREMAKER signed a contract about establishing a plant with an annual output of 300,000 m³ AAC products and 120 million pcs sand lime bricks. According to the formula from KEDA SUREMAKER Test Center, Chuzhou Runqian produced high quality AAC blocks with the raw material copper tailings. With the good economic efficiency, Chuzhou Runqian achieves good customer reputation. And in 2014, in order to enhance its visibility and influence, Chuzhou Runqian and KEDA SUREMAKER held the second scientific forum successfully in Chuzhou.
